Biosketch Dr. Mihelcic’s teaching and research interests are in green engineering, sustainable development, reform of engineering education, and global water/sanitation issues. He founded the very first Master’s International program in Civil & Environmental Engineering in 1997 and now directs such a program at the University of South Florida. He is the lead author of three textbooks: Fundamentals of Environmental Engineering (John Wiley & Sons, 1999) Environmental Engineering: Fundamentals, Design, Sustainability (John Wiley & Sons, 2009) and Field Guide in Environmental Engineering for Development Workers: Water, Sanitation, Indoor Air (American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Press, 2009). He has studied environmental policy as an AAAS-U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Environmental Fellow and traveled extensively in the developing world to conduct research and work on development issues related to water, sanitation, and global health. |
