Dr. Peter Stroot - University of South Florida: Dealing with the things in life that you do not want to deal with...
  • The Laboratory of Environmental Engineering Innovation tackles process problems considered difficult or inadequately solved. We use knowledge and skills from Engineering, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, and Mathematical Modeling to create innovative solutions. Our overall mission is to reduce the capital and operational costs of biological processes with the hope that these savings will result in lower costs for basic sanitation for developing countries.

      Areas of interest

    • Development of novel anaerobic digestion processes for the treatment of diverse solid wastes.

    • Development of a new high-rate nitrification process for domestic and industrial wastewater.

    • Use of molecular biology tools to investigate the growth responses and rates of specific microbial populations in bioreactors.
